Ad Lib Drama Group fundraise for Michaela Foundation
The Ad Lib drama group held their first ever fundraising performance on 21st and 23rd of April when they brought The Real McCoy production to the stage in Eskra Community Centre.
The rip-roaring comedy which combined high drama with Irish wit went down a storm in Eskra in front of a packed hall on both nights. The Real McCoy followed the story of Madge Molloy who was left hurt and angry by her husband who abandoned her 43 years ago.
The Ad Lib drama group generously donated all proceeds to charity beneficiaries; Michaela Foundation and Parkinson’s UK. A fantastic total of £900 was raised over the two nights and divided across both the charities.
Shona Martin of the Ad Lib group said “With such close personal ties to the local area, it is great that both of these fantastic charities will be able to benefit from the generosity received.”
On behalf of Michaela Foundation, Úna Kelly thanked all those involved, “We are delighted to have been selected as charity partner by the Ad Lib group for their production of The Real McCoy. Generous donations like theirs make a huge difference to the work that we do and allows us to continue to inspire and support young people throughout Ireland. Sincere thanks to the talented Ad Lib group and to those who attended the performance and donated generously.”
Rosemary McCrossan, treasurer of the Parkinson’s UK group added, “We would like to thank the Ad Lib group for choosing Parkinson’s UK as one of the benefactors from their production. We know that it takes a lot of work and commitment to produce a play and their donation will help people with Parkinson’s and their carer’s in the local area. We also greatly appreciate the kindness of those who attended the show and donated towards the charities.”
