Michaela Foundation’s four year partnership with St. Mary’s University College continues to flourish.
For the fourth consecutive year, St. Mary’s University College will host the County Antrim Michaela Foundation Summer Camp from 3rd – 7th July.
The 5 day Camp for girls, inspired by the life of Michaela McAreavey strives to meet the needs of local girls and those from the wider County Antrim area.
The Michaela Foundation Antrim Camp is one of 19 Camps that will take place across Ireland in 2017. Campettes aged 11-13 will complete 5 unique activities daily across the themes of Fun, Faith, Fashion, Fáilte and Well-being. Voluntary leaders will strive to provide a fun, friendly and welcoming environment in which Campettes not only develop their skills and talents but self-esteem too.
Úna Kelly of Michaela Foundation expressed the charity’s appreciation to St. Mary’s University College stating,
“We greatly value our partnership with St. Mary’s and are most appreciative of the hospitality they extend to our Campettes and Leaders each year. It’s a pleasure to work with an institution whose ethos is so similar to Michaela Foundation’s, with faith, fun and fellowship at the core.”
Not only does St. Mary’s host the Camp and training events but many students of the University College volunteer as Summer Camp leaders. The generosity of spirit and time comes as no surprise to Professor Peter Finn (Principal, St Mary’s University College) who states,
“One of the greatest aspects of St Mary’s University College is the vitality of its students and their commitment to volunteering. Each year hundreds of St Mary’s students demonstrate care for their fellow citizens through volunteering and by doing so they contribute to the vital process of social cohesion.”
