A farewell note…

Thursday August 31st 2017

As I prepare to leave the Michaela Foundation office for the final time, I’m feeling thankful for having been blessed with the opportunity to work for such an amazing charity and with some incredible people. I’ve no doubt that I will remain a long term friend of Michaela Foundation and will carry with me many fond memories, lessons and friendships.

Before signing out of the MF social media accounts, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank some of those who made my time at Michaela Foundation so special.

Thanks to all those who fundraised over the years and invested in the futures of the incredible young people we work with.

Thanks to the young people who engaged with our projects. You have reminded us to find fun in each day.

Thanks to the Summer Camp host venues and charity / business partners that have supported Michaela Foundation. A special word of thanks to core partners; O’Neills International Sportswear, Ulster GAA and Lairdesign for your unwavering support towards Michaela Foundation and me personally. It’s been a pleasure working with you. Sincere thanks to my adopted colleagues at Clearhill for the comradery and craic.

Thanks to the incredible volunteers and ambassadors. The compassion you show towards the people we serve is an inspiration for us all. Michaela Foundation volunteers really are one of a kind and ones of kindness! It’s been a pleasure working closely with you. Your generosity of time and talent is greatly appreciated! Ní neart go cur le cheile.

Thank you Anne (Belle) Nugent nee McAreavey for the invaluable support and guidance especially in the early years.

I feel privileged to have worked for an amazing organisation inspired by the life of a special lady and Michaela’s family and friends. Thanks to the board of trustees for entrusting me with the role. They have not only provided professional support and guidance but have also been a source of inspiration, fun and friendship. Mickey Harte, Catherine Strain, Mattie Harte and Brendan McAreavey; go raibh maith agaibh!

Big thanks to Operations Assistant and friend, Janine Diamond. Thank you for your commitment to the Michaela Foundation mission & all the hard work you put it. I’ve loved working with you.

I’m fortunate to have been led by a boss, mentor and manager that I could also call a friend in John McAreavey. I have learned so much through working with John over the years and have really enjoyed our journey. There’s no doubt that Michaela Foundation will continue to go ó neart go neart with John at the helm and with the board and team at his side. Míle buíochas!

Best wishes to the incoming Operations Manager. I hope you enjoy the role as much as I did. There’s no doubt that the Michaela Foundation Family will welcome you with open arms.

The past 4.5 years have offered me countless opportunities for personal and professional development, thanks again to all those who accompanied me on the journey. It’s been epic.

Go raibh míle maith agaibh!
