We know this is what you have been waiting for…meet our 2018 Wings Award Winners, 14-16 age category!

Meet Holly…

Holly was nominated by her teacher at Our Lady’s Grammar, Newry for her work as a young carer & her active involvement in Newry & Mourne Young Carers Group. Holly is also involved with “Together: Building a United Community Peace Camp” which aims to build community relations with youth from different backgrounds. In recognition of her work as a carer she was awarded the 2016 Shining Light Award for her age group and in 2015/16 Newry & Mourne Young  Carers won the Diana Award. Holly you definitely are a ‘shining light’!

 

Meet Niamh…

Niamh was nominated by her teacher at St. Joseph’s Grammar, Donaghmore for giving of herself fully to her local GAA club and community, constantly fundraising and helping however she can. Niamh currently plays for U16 and minor ladies’ football teams as well as playing for the Tyrone Ladies U16 team. Last year Niamh captained her clubs U14 Ladies team as well as the Tyrone Ladies’ U14 who went on to win an ulster C title. Niamh’s dedication, attendance and effort to her training and matches are exceptional and she would be considered a role model for many of her team mates and friends. Niamh, we’re exhausted just trying to read all that you do!

 

Meet Maeve…

Maeve was nominated by her teacher at St. Mary’s College, Derry for her efforts to increase the amount of girls in STEM subjects. She is the current Northern Ireland Young Scientist and often represents her school at the BT Young Scientist, Technology and Engineering Competition. Maeve was also runner-up in the Junior Science age category of the National Science and Engineering Competition where she represented Northern Ireland and competed against projects from throughout the UK. Maeve, we can tell you have a very bright future ahead!
