I’m Cora – I am absolutely delighted to be chosen as a Michaela Scholar for 2014/15.
I am from a small rural area of Clonoe, Co. Tyrone and have currently just started studying Children’s Nursing in Queens University Belfast. I have completed my first 6 weeks in university and started my first week on placement this week.
Although it is a huge change and university life is hard to adapt to, I am thoroughly enjoying it and am certain this is the right career choice for me.
Some of my passions in life are playing football along with some best friends; although it takes up a lot of my spare time, the craic is always mighty and I have made invaluable friendships from it. I am a passionate club member and enjoy coaching our youth teams. I also enjoy socializing with my friends and family, thoroughly enjoying a good night out with the girls!! The laughs are always plentiful, and the WhatsApp groups are full the next day with the craic from the night before!
I am privileged to have a very close knit family, who support and help me in everything I do. Thankfully I also have an absolutely amazing bunch of friends – the craic and memories we share together is something special and I would be completely lost without them!
I am really looking forward to my new journey as a Michaela Scholar – I am lucky enough to have been influenced strongly by Michaela throughout my school life and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of her pioneer group. She was an inspiring woman who I, along with many others, looked up to for her ability to stand up for what she believed in, living a life without limits.
