“Queen’s Students’ Union President fundraises for Michaela Foundation
Niall McShane, President of Queen’s University Students’ Union is aim to raising £1,000 for Michaela Foundation by running in the Omagh Half Marathon this coming Saturday.
Niall is undertaking a personal challenge that will combine four full marathons and half marathons in an eight week period to raise £4,000 for local charities. The fundraising challenge, known as ‘RUN 4 RAG’, requires Niall to complete four runs in four different counties for the four Queen’s ‘Raise and Give’ charities. Benefitting from this remarkable feat will be Michaela Foundation, MacMillan Cancer Support, Age NI and Northern Ireland Chest, Heart & Stroke.
In March 2013, Michaela Foundation was chosen by students at Queen’s students to be one of their Queen’s University RAG (Raise & Give) Charities. Since then students at the University have come together to form a student lead group known as Michaela Foundation Society. Michaela Foundation also provides scholarships to students embarking on their Queen’s University journey for the first time, known as the Michaela Foundation Scholars.
Niall Said “I am delighted to be able to fundraise for such a worthy cause as the Michaela Foundation. Through the work of Michaela Foundation and its official society at Queen’s University, I can see first hand the positive effect the foundation is having on Queen’s students and beyond.
Each and every one of us has the ability to give in some shape or form to make a difference – may that be giving of our time, our skills or our experience. By giving of my time and commitment through this challenge I am hoping to make a difference and inspire others to see the benefits of giving.
With the help of the money I am aiming to raise, Michaela Foundation can expand its work and continue to inspire young people to succeed in life fulfillment and happiness with faith, confidence and fun as their foundation.”
Life without limits.
